About Us
A Diverse and Inclusive Community
Stockport Pagan Moot was founded 30 years ago by Tony and Susan Yates and has grown into one of the oldest continuously running Moots in Britain. What began as a small gathering in a Stockport pub has become a long‑standing community, which is shaped by the people who attend itÂ
We’re rooted in local identity, history, and character of Stockport, with strong ties across the wider North West. We keep things practical, open, and discussion‑led. The Moot isn’t hierarchical and doesn’t follow a single tradition; it’s a place where different Pagan paths, folk practices, and perspectives meet, welcoming individuals from all paths, fostering an inclusive space to connect, learn, and grow
Whether you are new to Paganism, have been practicing for years, or are just interested in the old ways, our community is built on respect, shared wisdom, and the celebration of diverse spiritual journeys
Each month, we gather in a welcoming and informal setting, offering talks, discussions & workshops led by experienced voices from the Pagan community. Our events range from workshops and social nights to an annual Pagan Quiz Night, ensuring a dynamic and enriching experience for all who join us.
Meet your hosts
Stockport Pagan Moot is currently run by Beki and Rob Burrows.
Beki Burrows
Beki has been a practising Pagan for over 30 years, with the stories, magic, and mythology of Paganism woven into her life since childhood. As co‑host of Stockport Pagan Moot, she keeps the whole operation grounded and running smoothly, scouting speakers at other events, managing social media, editing and reviewing content, and generally keeping the team organised (including reigning in Rob’s chaos).
Her approach to community work is warm, steady, and quietly powerful. She creates a welcoming space where people can learn, share, and explore without pressure or pretence. Whether she’s coordinating behind the scenes or supporting others on the night, Beki is one of the key reasons the Moot continues to thrive.
Rob Burrows
Rob has co‑run Stockport Pagan Moot for around a decade, helping shape it into one of the region’s most open, questioning, and good‑humoured pagan spaces. His approach to hosting blends warmth with a healthy dose of challenge, encouraging people to look past the obvious, rethink assumptions, and explore their paths with curiosity rather than dogma.
Behind the scenes, he organises speakers, networks with other events across the North West and Wales, and brings new voices into the community. He also handles much of the Moot’s visual and technical work, from design to video editing, ensuring talks and resources are accessible long after the night itself.
Rob’s priority is simple: create a space where people can learn, laugh, disagree safely, and grow — without hierarchy, pretence, or romanticised versions of the past.
