Rob Burrows

Rob is a long‑standing researcher and speaker specialising in Anglo‑Saxon Heathenry, with a particular focus on the North Sea cultural sphere rather than the more commonly explored Norse material. His work examines how belief, magic, and identity evolved from Indo‑European roots through to the early medieval period, with special attention to the tribes and traditions that shaped the Anglo‑Saxon world.

His talks — including Galdor and the Magic of ASH and the forthcoming revision of Souls of ASH — draw on a blend of evidence and lived practice. Rob’s method combines etymology, linguistics, place‑name studies, migration history, mythology, and comparative cultural analysis to reconstruct a practice that is grounded, historically honest, and free from modern romanticism.

Although currently taking a year out from the speaking circuit to focus on a major project, his research continues to evolve, always circling back to the same core question: how did early beliefs form, change, and survive across the North Sea world — and what can they offer modern practitioners today.
