As we celebrate the Moot’s anniversary year, we’re honoured to spotlight Mark Olly, a familiar and foundational part of our history. Mark has been with us since the very beginning, shaping the early years of the Moot with his knowledge, enthusiasm and unmistakable presence.
A historian, archaeologist, author and presenter, Mark has spent over five decades exploring Britain’s ancient and mysterious past. His work ranges from investigations into legendary sites and stories across the UK to books on King Arthur, Robyn Hoode, the Green Man and crystal skulls. Many will know him from the Lost Treasures TV series or his appearances on Ancient Aliens, and he continues to lecture, publish and give public talks across the country.
For the Anniversary Event, Mark is offering something truly special: thirty years of presentations, research, teaching and stage work distilled into one unscripted session. Stepping away from PowerPoint entirely, he’s going “live without a net” — no slides, no notes, just real‑world magical practice drawn directly from experience.
Through stories gathered across his life and work, Mark explores both the practical, day‑to‑day side of magic and the larger spiritual forces behind it. He looks at what humans can genuinely do, where the limits lie, and the do’s and don’ts that shape a practitioner’s path. Some of it will be familiar; much of it won’t. Think of this as a Book of Shadows formed from lived experience, told in the moment.
This session is a rare chance to see Mark in his most authentic form — direct, unscripted, and drawing on decades of magical, historical and personal insight. A fitting contribution to the Moot’s anniversary year.
